Artist Bio

Tara Johnston is a mural artist and designer living just outside of Austin, Texas, known for large-scale botanical murals and her signature hand-drawn lettering.

In 2010, she earned a B.F.A. in interior design from the University of North Texas, where she developed an early understanding of how thoughtfully designed spaces can influence the way people feel within them. That foundation continues to shape her work today, guiding a design-forward approach rooted in the belief that every space has the potential to enhance the human experience.

Botanical forms are central to her work, bringing references of nature into built environments through color, scale, and organic shape. At times, these elements are paired with bold geometric structure, creating compositions that feel both natural and graphic. Hand-drawn lettering often works alongside these elements, allowing her to incorporate messaging that encourages positivity and connection.

Her practice lives at the intersection of art and design, giving her work its distinct voice and clear point of view.
